Shoei RF-1200 Helmet Review The new Shoei RF-1200 is a helmet without faults. We've poured over every inch of the Shoei and have come up short every time for any nitpicks or gripes. From the ground up, the Shoei RF-1200 has been completely redesigned and we are massively impressed. Starting with the new lower profile, more aerodynamic outer shell that has been true wind-tunnel tested. The RF-1200 still meets both DOT and Snell 2010 standards and is offered in 4 shell sizes. Weight savings over the RF-1100 were about 2 ounces or about 60 grams in the new RF-1200. New venting channels and vent systems simplify and increase airflow over the RF-1100. A new faceshield and base plate come with the new 1200. The CWR-1 Faceshield will be Pinlock ready in the box and features a new reinforcing ridge at the top and bottom of the shield that prevents flex and deformation over time. These ridges also act as a "max-vision" housing for the included Pinlock Lens. The new QRE base plate offers fine-tuning for the user and is easy to release the faceshield. The internal fitting shape remains the same as the RF-1100, but a new 3D Max Dry 2 System in the interior is softer to the touch and more comfortable against the face. For the first time in a RF series helmet, emergency cheek pad removal system will come standard in the RF-1200 and the EPS liner even has built-in pockets for a communication system. The new Shoei RF-1200, I think I'm in love.

- Enlarged eye port provides an increased view for the rider.
- Superior automatic shield locking system with spring controlled lever.
- 5mm initial shield position by releasing shield locking system.
- Optically-superior Anti-fog Lens prepared 2D Flat-Racing Shield. Also includes 2D Dark Smoke Shield and the Anti-fog insert lens.
- Eyewear friendly EPS shape with special channels built into the helmet interior.
- Multicool interior: Advanced anti-bacteria fabric provides enhanced moisture wicking and quick drying function than previous generation. (Fully removable and washable interior)
- Emergency kit (Cheek Pads) incorporates a easy removal feature as part of the helmet interior. Reflective patches are also attached near the rear for safety enhancement.
- Recessed area for speakers molded into the EPS to allow flexibility in speaker placement for a custom fit.Shoei NXR (RF-1200) first ride and thoughts. I Love it! :)

INTRODUCING THE INCREDIBLE NEW SHOEI NXR (RF-1200)
Lighter, Smoother, Quieter, Cooler...

The new NXR is the latest pure sports helmet design from the Japanese master craftsmen at Shoei Premium Helmets. The New NXR Replaces the Shoei XR-1100.
Compact - Lightweight - Aerodynamic Design:
SHOEI's state-of-the-art wind tunnel at their Ibaraki Factory was the key to the NXR Helmet Design Process. Thanks to the time spent in the wind tunnel the NXR sport; a more compact and aerodynamic shell than the XR-1100 and is the lightest Snell Certified Helmet in the Shoei Line as of its introduction.
Ventilation Performance:
Using the Shoei Wind Tunnel the optimal balance of ventilation and noise was identified. Using this knowledge Shoei Engineers equipped the NXR with a large, three position lower vent shutter for ease of use with gloves, three upper vents for optimal air intake, and four upper exhaust vents too take full advantage of negative pressure suction. The end result is dramatically improved cool air intake and hot air expulsion.
CWR-1 Shield
CWR-1 shield provides a vast field of vision that rivals helmet less peripheral. In addition to protecting against 99% of the sun's damaging UV rays, the CWR-1 shield offers a distortion-free view throughout the entire range thanks to SHOEI's 3D injection-moulding process. Additionally, innovative new ribs on the top and bottom edge of the shield improve rigidity and eliminate the bending that may occur from wind pressure and during the opening and closing process, and an improved shield locking mechanism rounds out SHOEI's most advanced shield system to date.
Precision QR-E Base Plate System:
The NXR all-new QR-E base plate system facilitates quicker shield changes than ever before. Once a shield is installed, the strengthened spring-loaded base plates pull the shield back against the dual-lip, dual-layered window beading to ensure a wind and waterproof seal. Add to the mix an all-new five-stage rotating dial that allows fine-tuning the base plate's position easily and accurately.
Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ Shell:
The NXR features the SHOEI Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ Shell construction. Combining fibreglass with organic fibres, the NXR proprietary AIM+ Shell is not only strong, it is extremely lightweight, and comes in an industry-leading four shell sizes to ensure a custom fit for heads between the sizes of XS-XXL.
Dual-Layer / Multi-Density EPS Liner:
Dual-Layer, Multi-Density EPS liner not only provides an enhanced impact absorption by utilizing varying densities of foam in key areas around the riders head, it is also designed to allow cooling air to travel unrestricted through tunnels created in the EPS, further enhancing the NXR superior ventilation. In addition to enhanced impact absorption and ventilation, the precision placement of multi-density EPS liner material yields a more compact, lightweight design.
3D Max-Dry System II Interior:
Fully removable, washable, adjustable, and replaceable 3D Max-Dry System II interior. The 3D centre pad is three-dimensionally shaped to match the contours of a rider's head, allowing for an extremely comfortable fit while maintaining the firm hold necessary for distraction-free, high-speed riding. Additionally, the NXR 3D-shaped cheek pads are available in multiple sizes for a customizable fit, and SHOEI's Max-Dry System II liner material absorbs and dissipates sweat and moisture twice as fast as traditional Nylon helmet interiors.
Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.):
SHOEI equipped the NXR Helmet with its exclusive Emergency Quick Release System (technology borrowed from The Shoei X-Twelve Helmet) that allows emergency medical personnel to easily remove the cheek pads from an injured rider's helmet. When the cheek pads have been removed, the helmet can be safely lifted from a rider's head without creating unnecessary strain in the neck area.
