Well, calling it a ‘review’ is a bit of stretch, since I’m by no means qualified to actually conduct a ‘professional’ review (whatever that may be..) on a band’s release. But anyway, I hope you liked it and I’ curious to hear your thoughts on what you think of Pentagram Curious Volume.
To me, in short: I couldn’t be any more please. I think the record kills and is a winner. But I admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. After all, we know that banking on a Pentagram album (or live show, for that matter) comes with a certain risk. Well, I’m glad that Bobby Liebling, Victor Griffin, Greg Turley and Pete Campbell pulled it off this time. They certainly delivered and as a fan, I am very appreciative of that.

I received my copy of the record a couple of days ago, but if I understand correctly, the actual – or rather official - Curious Volume release date is scheduled for August 28, 2015.
Pentagram’s new record features what some may call eleven classic heavy metal compositions with catchy hooks from core band members Victor Griffin (guitars), Greg Turley (bass), Bobby Liebling (vocals) and Pete Campbell (drums). The Swedish producer Mattias Nilsson recorded and engineered the tracks at studios located in Maryland and Virginia. Further to that additional taping was done in Tennessee with Grammy Award-winning producer Travis Wyrick, who had previously worked with the band and produced PENTAGRAM's previous album, "Last Rites". The rather sophisticated art work of the record was done by Richard Schouten. Last but not least, we need to mention the man behind the scenes without whom Pentagram wouldn’t exist today: Mr. Sean “Pellet” Pelletier, manager, friend and pretty much everything else in all matters regarding Pentagram.
Of course, the management announced a number of Pentagram 2015 and 2016 Tour dates in support of Curious Volume. More dates at different locations are being added. Here is what we have for now:

Pentagram is considered one of the pioneers of doom metal. To this day I don’t even know what Doom is. But ultimately it all comes down to semantics. It doesn’t matter what you call it. The fact remains: Pentagram Curious Volume (2015) is a first class heavy rock album by any standard. And while you out there to pick up your copy on Vinyl or CD, make sure you look also into the award winning documentary: Last Days Here.
