Hi,
I just want to share with you about my experience about replacing the old wireless card with the Intel® Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 in order to get wireless N.
My Dell Studio 15 was not working anymore. I decided to use the Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 onto my Inspiron 6400 and replace the old Dell Wireless 1390.
The installation went well and it worked perfectly. I went to intel website to download the software and driver for Intel® Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300.
Pro:
* It works great.
Con:
*No third antenna to connect to the white triangle to get the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Technology.
I hope this inspires people to upgrade their laptop.

You will need:
1. A laptop with a wifi radio on and off switch (Either a flip switch on the sides or front of the laptop, fn key buttons, or a press switch on the top of the laptop).
2. PVC Tape (Electrical Tape)
3. A pair of tweezers for placing the tape over pin 20
4. If your laptop only has 2 antennas and you are installing/upgrading to a 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz dual band card that has 3 antennas you will need to purchase an internal antenna.
5. A WLAN PCI-E Card
6. A full height or mini PCI-E socket

You will need a small #00 Phillips head screwdriver and, optionally, an old credit card to help open your laptop case.
Please note that Asus has confirmed that opening your laptop will void your 1-year warranty. That being said, as far as I can tell there is no way for Asus to check if you have opened your laptop or not if you ever need to send it in for servicing.
This laptop only has 2 built-in antennas and therefore it cannot take advantage of a third antenna slot available on some wireless cards such as the one seen in this video. In such instances, use slots 1 and 2 only; do not use slot 3.
